CHILLIUCHO consists of all things Capsicum – from whole pods to ground powders, as well as a snack seasoning available in different heat levels.

CHILLIUCHO is in part a represenation of Pre-Columbian cultures’ usage of chillies, but also a tribute by promoting Capsicums that are native to the Americas.

The original term, chilli (now chile in Mexico) came from the Nahuatl word chilli, referring to a larger Capsicum variety cultivated at least since 3000 BC, as evidence by remains found in pottery from Puebla & Oaxaca.

Ucho is the Quechua word for chili (now aji in Peru). Garcilaso de la Vega, known as El Inca, wrote in detail about chilli peppers and their place in Inca culture. He traced the nomenclature of the plant: the pods were called Ucho by the Incas.
